Takehiko Hironaga is a painter from Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture whose two woodblock prints are featured in the collection of the British Museum in London, England. He is an exceptionally talented artist who handles the entire process of making woodblock prints, notably drawing, engraving, and printing, all by himself. Until his death last year at the age of 85, he continued to depict Japan's disappearing traditional landscapes, with a particular focus on private houses located throughout the country. His works made with handmade Echizen washi paper have a natural brightness to them that warmly touch the heart of all who come see them.
During his 60 year career as an artist, he has dedicated himself to preserving the beauty of Japan inhertited by the people over generations. Come discover Hironaga's beautiful, nostalgic, and moving pieces of art, ranging from woodblock prints, to oil paintings, and even to watercolors!
