Celebrating the local and diverse LGBTQ+ community!
Despite being active memebers of daily life in Sendai and Miyagi Prefecture, the LGBTQ+ community is often erased from society, almost as if it didn't even exist. The Miyagi Rainbow Parade is a project that has been in the works for years —with the first Parade taking place in 2019— aimed at giving this community a chance to become visisble and celebrate their diversity.
This year’s parade will start at 2:00pm at Sakanamachi Park where partipants will march down Aoba-Dori Avenue as well as some major shopping streets. Following the parade, the Pride Meeting will be held at Citizens’ Square from 3:30pm.
This is an incredible opportunity to deepen your understanding and respect for gender diversity, as well as meet and interact with members of your local LGBTQ+ community in person.
